Looking To Install A Custom Media Wall in Surrey?
A custom media wall installation in Surrey creates a practical focal point for your living room, bringing together your TV, wiring, storage and optional lighting or electric fireplace in one fitted design. At Bookham Kitchens, we design and install bespoke media walls for homeowners who want a more organised, considered and personalised living space.
Your media wall can be designed as a simple wall-mounted TV feature, a low-level fitted TV unit, a full-height statement wall or cabinetry across part of the room. Depending on your requirements, it may include shelving, cupboards, drawers, LED lighting, soundbar space and concealed cable management.
Based in Great Bookham, we work across Surrey, creating custom media walls that suit the dimensions of your room, your equipment and the way you live.

Bespoke Media Walls Designed Around Your Living Room
Our bespoke media walls are made to fit your room, rather than asking you to make a standard-sized unit work around your home. We consider the width and height of the wall, your seating layout, TV viewing position, existing sockets and the storage you need every day.
A fitted TV wall can make a smaller living room feel more organised by keeping cables, consoles and clutter contained. In larger lounges and open-plan spaces, it can provide a clear visual centrepoint while adding useful cabinetry and display space.
We can plan custom media walls in Surrey around:
- Chimney breasts and alcoves
- Full-width living-room walls
- Floor-to-ceiling fitted cabinetry
- Narrow walls and compact lounges
- Open-plan living and dining areas
- Existing furniture, flooring and colour schemes
- Television, soundbar and fireplace dimensions

Custom Media Wall Storage, Shelving And Lighting Options
A successful custom media wall installation in Surrey should provide more than a place for the television. We can incorporate fitted storage, practical access for equipment, display shelving and lighting to make the whole wall useful as well as attractive.
TV recesses and soundbar integration
Your TV recess can be sized around your chosen television, with consideration given to viewing height, fixing requirements, ventilation and future access. If you have a soundbar, we can allow a dedicated position beneath or alongside the screen.
Concealed cable management
Cables can be routed behind the finished wall so that power leads, aerial cables and HDMI connections are less visible. We also consider access to sockets and media equipment, including games consoles, routers, streaming devices and set-top boxes.
Fitted cupboards and drawers
Fitted cupboards and drawers can provide valuable living-room storage for remote controls, chargers, games consoles, accessories, books, magazines, paperwork, toys, blankets, board games, speakers and other media equipment.
Display shelving
Open shelving adds personality to a media wall and gives you space for books, photographs, plants, artwork and decorative pieces. We plan shelving around the TV so that it enhances the feature wall without making it feel overcrowded.
Integrated LED lighting
LED lighting can add depth and warmth to shelving, recessed areas and display zones. Subject to the chosen specification, lighting options may include warm or cool tones, dimmable fittings and convenient controls.
Media wall finishes, colours and hardware
We can discuss painted cabinetry, wood-effect finishes, textured panels, traditional handles, knobs or handleless details. A bespoke TV wall unit can be designed to coordinate with your home.

Bespoke Media Walls With Electric Fireplaces in Surrey
Bespoke media walls can include an electric fireplace beneath or alongside the television. A media wall with an electric fire can create a welcoming focal point without requiring a traditional chimney or flue.
For custom media wall installation in Surrey, we can design and build the surrounding cabinetry and feature wall. Fireplace supply, customer-supplied models and any electrical work can be discussed during the consultation so that responsibilities and requirements are clear.
We will consider:
- Fireplace dimensions and opening requirements
- Manufacturer clearance guidance
- Ventilation requirements
- TV positioning above or beside the fire
- Power supply and cable access
- Cabinetry proportions and surrounding finishes
Electrical connections should be completed by an appropriately qualified professional where required.
Ask us about media walls with electric fireplaces
If you already have an electric fire in mind, share the make, model and product dimensions before the design stage. If not, we can help you understand the space, proportion and practical considerations before you purchase one.

Start with a no-obligation media wall discussion
A well-designed TV wall starts with the right information. Send us a few room photographs, your wall dimensions and details of your TV or fireplace, and we can help you understand the next steps.
How much does a bespoke media wall cost in Surrey?
The cost of a bespoke media wall varies because every installation is designed around the room, materials and level of fitted cabinetry required. We provide an individual quotation following an initial discussion and, where needed, a home survey rather than offering a misleading one-size-fits-all price. A simple low-level fitted TV unit will usually require a different budget from a full-height feature wall with cupboards, lighting, shelving and an electric fireplace.
What affects custom media wall installation costs?
The main pricing factors include:
- Overall width, height and wall configuration
- Low-level cabinetry or full-height fitted furniture
- Number of cupboards, drawers and shelves
- Painted, wood-effect or specialist finishes
- Handleless details, handles and internal storage
- TV recesses, soundbar space and cable management
- LED lighting, controls and electrical requirements
- Electric fireplace model and installation requirements
- Wall alterations, preparation work or additional sockets
- Customer-supplied TVs, fires and media equipment
Complex wall structures, specialist finishes and electrical alterations may need separate assessment or quotations. For an accurate indication of cost, send us photographs, room dimensions and a list of the features you would like included.

Custom Media Wall FAQs
Can you build a media wall in a small living room?
Yes. A bespoke media wall can work particularly well in a small living room by using the available wall space efficiently. We can design compact fitted TV units, low-level cupboards, slim shelving and concealed cable management to keep the room organised without making it feel crowded.
Can a media wall be fitted around an existing chimney breast?
Yes. We can design a bespoke media wall around an existing chimney breast, alcoves or uneven wall layouts. During the home survey, we assess the wall dimensions, construction, sockets and access requirements to create a practical fitted TV wall design.
Can I use my existing TV, soundbar and electric fireplace?
In many cases, yes. We can plan your custom media wall around your existing TV, soundbar, games consoles and electric fireplace. Please provide the make, model and dimensions before the design stage so we can allow for suitable recesses, ventilation, clearances and cable access.
Can you build a media wall without a fireplace?
Yes. A fireplace is entirely optional. We can create a bespoke media wall with a recessed or wall-mounted TV, fitted storage cupboards, display shelving, LED lighting and soundbar space, without including an electric fire.
Will I still be able to access cables and sockets?
Yes. Cable management and equipment access are considered as part of the media wall design. We can incorporate practical cable routes, access panels and suitable spaces for streaming devices, routers, set-top boxes and games consoles where required.
How long does media wall installation take?
Installation times vary depending on the size and complexity of the bespoke media wall, materials, lighting, electrical work and any fireplace requirements. Once the design and specification are agreed, we can provide a clearer indication of lead times and fitting duration.
Which areas of Surrey do you cover for media wall installation?
Bookham Kitchens provides custom media wall installation across Surrey, generally within approximately 30 miles of our Great Bookham showroom. Areas include Great Bookham, Leatherhead, Fetcham, Cobham, Dorking, Guildford and surrounding locations.
